weird situation with jailbroken ipod touch

i WAS a proud owner of ipod touch fully jailbroken and completly loaded
i was having pretty good time with it
then all of a sudden home button on ipt stopped stopped working
so i was not able to come out of a app or wake it up from standby mode
so i thought i will restore it, but holding hold and home button was't working,then itunes will not recognise the ipt, so restore was not possible
now i have a jailbroken ipt with a faulty home button not recognised by itunes
ULTIMATELY i came out of this situation with flying colors and new ipt but i was wondering what else could be done in this situation, anyone any thoughts?

Try letting the battery die completely. Then see if anything changes.

he already got it replaced.

Since DFU mode would not work, you would have to throw it into DFU mode with iphuc or something of the like....

try rebooting your pc if that fails jiggle the power cord and reboot it again
