Has anyone with a gmail account received a message like this one:

Dear Friend,
My name is Ekene, a girl of 23 years. I am from USA and I have been finding it difficult to get an account with gmail. Please could you please help me by inviting me to use a gmail account? I will very much appreciate it and God will bless you.
Ekene.

It's from a random yahoo email address. I suppose the motivation is to get onto someone's contact list, but I don't really see the point otherwise. Obviously they already have my email address, maybe they are just looking to confirm that it's active?

Its to get a gmail account to spam with or use as a catchbox for spam replies.

Google may frown on you giving an invite to a spammer.

It seems to me that it's easy enough to get a gmail account that doing this kind of spam shouldn't be necessary. And even if you do have one, I don't think it makes your spamming job any easier. Strange.
