Ok so I have 2 questions -
1. Today, I upgraded my 2009 (bought last month) iMac to SL. I didn't really back up my stuff, mainly because of the amount of people who told me I would be fine, and considering I've never upgraded my OS on a mac before I took the plunge. Shortly after booting up, and looking forward to the snappiness of the machine (i used an identical machine in the store before buying SL) I watched the welcome movie, and booted up Firefox. Now, not only was it slower, Spotlight had finished indexing too (there was no dot on the spyglass on the top bar, but a process called 'mdworker' is still running now, but taking up like 0.1% of the cpu) and also Spaces for me is VERY choppy and weird. It's not as smooth as it used to be. So what's the deal guys? Obviously like many other users on this forum I wasn't expecting the world from this upgrade, I didn't set my sights too high, but I after being promised a 'faster leaner and more defined' system I am a little more than disappointed. The speed issue is affecting all applications, so any advice on how to get my mac moving again would be great!
2. As you have already read above - my mac is slow. So I was told that I should be doing a erase/install. So off I went to spend more money, and bought my self an external hard drive to back up my files. I plugged it in, set it up and it started backing up with time machine. I told it which folders I want to keep, mainly some stuff from the desktop and my iTunes folder (one with all the music). While in the process of doing this, it said 'backing up 702,604 files' and that the total size of the upgrade was 22GB. So my question is - and excuse my french, but what the **** does that mean? :s does that mean I can now do an erase/install of my mac and just restore all my files after? I'm so confused :S
TIA
