Good ideas. Two of the early Android Wear watchfaces are like that:
Developers are going to make a killing with watchfaces for the Apple Watch.
Although many will end up being free, of course.

PS. I'm really hoping that Samsung's upcoming round watch will have its rumored rotating bezel. You could make a killer E6B flight computer slide rule watch with that.
