Now I'm curious.. for those that pay ~$20 a month for another LLM - will you attempt the switch to Gemini? I'm not a fan that Gemini does not have a native Mac app.. so I think I'll stick with Anthropic's Claude

Thoughts?

I have to believe Google is going to have very little information about Apple users' data. I don't know the technical inner workings, but I would assume the gemini LLM is made available to Apple for a hefty fee.
you are correct.

a real well written report and analysis is found on the apple insider sight.

one of the quotes from the article:
Users won't need to worry about what is Google versus what is Apple, because the final shipping product is all Apple. There isn't any data being passed to Google or its servers, and Gemini won't be loaded onto iPhones.
end of quote.

it was a natural choice for apple to work with google (but not guaranteed due to early fanfare (=noise) caused by ChatGPT).

So if Apple couldn't even fix Siri, that doesn't really bode well for them as they try get their AI initiative off the ground and be a player in that segment.

Apple is being left in the dust where AI is concerned. I really think their only chance of getting their own product is to buy one outright. I prefer ChatGPT myself. I have tried Copilot which we have at work with our Office subscription, it works ok but in some tests I have tried ChatGPT performed better and more accurate in terms of looking at files and answering the questions I had about them.
