I often run my Apple TV on a projector that has a native resolution of 1280x800, but tvOS 9 and before couldn't output 1280x800, only 1280x720, which left about 80 vertical pixels unused, meaning 4:3 content wasn't quite as large as it could be.
Imagine my joy when I saw 1280x800 in the resolution list in tvOS 10! And then imagine my disappointment when I found that the ATV doesn't display it properly; it just stretches the image to make it slightly taller to fit, making BOTH 4:3 and 16:9 content look screwed up.
Ah well, I guess having a glimmer of hope, even for a moment, was cool.
(Yeah, this is somewhat of a trivial issue, and this entire post is kind of tongue-in-cheek. Just surprised that Apple screwed this up, since they went to the trouble of finally adding the 1280x800 mode)
