I was thinking of upgrading to a now iPod Touch. And I waited the whole Keynote for it but, nothing. NOTHING! :( Not even an internal update UGH Apple sucks. I was then looking at a iPad Mini but. Also no internal updates. I really don't need Touch ID. So. I'm stuck. Do you know any decent media players. Help me!!

You don't have to use TouchID at all.

The rMini is cheaper. Go with that ?

I just bought a WiFi external HDD so I don't have to spend extra cash on storage for devices.

This thing is 1TB and works across my phone, iPads, computers. My little portable cloud without needing cellular or internet.

I have 3 iPads..... don't ask.... so going above 16GB on them would've been an extra $100x3 to go to 32GB on each... So $300. I believe the WiFi HDD was $160 and I can simultaneously watch an HD video on all 3 at the same time. I just leave it turned on in my bag and I never have to worry about doing anything with it, just recharge while the iPads are charging.

That'd be stupid. No offense. But it didn't get A8X, let alone A8. Not even Retina HD Display. All they did was add Touch ID.

It may sound odd, but I'd recommend buying an Android smartphone and throwing in a 64GB (or 128GB) microSD card. There are many good quality Android phones for prepaid systems that don't require cell service.

For example, BoostMobile and VirginMobile has the Sharp Aquos Crystal, a bezel-less handset with a 5" screen. It's a real looker and only $150, no contract.

I've take numerous Android smartphones and turned them into a media player. They can be used fine as-is as a media player (just turn on airplane mode) but if you are tech-savvy then you can root the phone and remove the phone bits and get even greater performance and battery life.

If you really need storage, you could always get a refurbished iPad 2 (formerly known as iPad Mini with Retina Display). There's 64 and 128 GB options for a slight discount. I'd probably settle for the 64 GB option unless you really see yourself using 128 GBs.

I don't really see a market for iPod touches anymore and I'm surprised Apple is still selling it. Maybe they'll take the regular iPod patch and retire it in a few years.

Some people just don't wanna lug around a big device nor any phones for that matter, and just want plain music on the go or in the car... Apple killed the iPod classic and now the iPod touch is unloved... There's just ain't other alternatives Apple wise...

I'm one of those people. I have a iPod Classic that I love but it's starting to fail (it's been 7 years so no complaints.) I need something that fits into my pocket so I can listen to my audiobooks when working. There's nothing out there that I can do that with. Not all my audiobooks come from Audible and I love that it bookmarks where I stopped.

I would never buy a iPhone way, way too expensive for someone who only uses any kind of phone 10 minutes a week (if that.)

I'm stuck now since there's nothing out there for people who hate cell phones and wants a music player that can handle the audiobook format.

If your hard drive is failing, you can buy a replacement drive online and install it following any repair guide available

IMHO (Unfortunately) People wanting latest & greatest iPod's in the future will probably join those wanting the MacBook Pro 17" on the vain path to nowhere.

Really your only option would be to get an iPhone and not use the phone part

It has a 5" screen - certainly does NOT replace an iPod 4" screen.

Anyways, why go Android, when it's a phone. Get a used iPhone 5 or 5s for a similar price and keep the smaller, more portable screen.

They should release a new iPod Touch, and make it a really fat ****************, like, 1cm thick or something. Just totally focus on storage space, make it 160GB like the sweet, sweet Classic and have huge battery life. Combine the Classic and Touch lines into one device this way. Then they'd have this for music, the iPhone and iPad lines for mobile products, and it'd be much more concise than it is now with all the different music player options. (Y)

Show me a used iPhone 5 or 5s for 150 bucks with is not broken and beaten up :p

You apparently missed my point. That Sharp has a 5" screen, but there are brand new Android smartphones with a 4" screen that can be purchased without contract for $100.

Where are you going to find a used 64GB iPhone 5 in like-new condition for $200? ($150 for an Android phone + $50 for a 64GB microSD card)

No "TWSS"? Now that's really dissapointing.

Hi, would you please PM me the spec and brand of this 1TB wifi HDD
I want one!!

Like I've said in other posts I'm new the the whole Apple release. I have a iMac I've had for 5 years and an iPod Classic that I've loved for 7 years so I didn't need anything else. So I know little about how they work.

What I was wondering is it possible they might release a larger capacity iPod touch quietly with little to no fanfare?
