I just stopped by an active Apple store in the outskirts of Houston, TX to check out the new iPads. No luck. The only thing they had out was a MacBook Pro.
The genius said they have them in November.
Bummer :(
Can't wait.....

Uuuuh... Yeah, release on iPad is 1st november, mini later.

Well, I'm not really sure. I went to look at the first iPad mini a long time before I received it. But I'm not sure if I went to look at it before I ordered it or after. An honest mistake – I was simply being helpful letting other people know, other people might be as dumb as me, that they weren't out yet. Lol

They've never displayed a product in-store before its release date. Just they way they do it.

Non-Retina Space Gray iPad Mini Starts Appearing in Apple Retail Stores
https://www.macrumors.com/2013/10/2...mini-starts-appearing-in-apple-retail-stores/

This time around they are already displaying the Space Gray iPad mini (non retina), so I am hoping that later today when i go to the mall I will swing by my Apple Store to see if they have this model on display because I am planning to buy the new retina iPad mini and would like to see the Space Gray in person.

No they won't. They appear the day of release. They don't send out samples of anything. When they come they come en masse.

It adds to they mystique, and prevents people from reviewing

Not going to happen. This Mini is actually for sale now

I am aware of that, I stated that in my post.

I was referring to the Space Gray model of the non retina version already being on display, I want to see it in person and if I like the new color then once the new retina iPad mini is released I will already know if I like it enough to buy it, otherwise I will just order the white model again like my current iPad mini.

Hah we all start somewhere. When I was younger and new to Apple events and keynotes, I was dumb enough to go down to the Apple store and watch the live updates on Engadget or Gizmodo on an iMac fully expecting whatever it was I wanted at the time to be brought out before my eyes ready for purchase. I was really freaking stupid and naive.

I'm glad you did! I'm from Houston too and was thinking about making a trip to compare demo units.
