So I get a new desk, de clutter is the goal, limit myself to 10u rack spaces.
I start placing gear, about to do some wire management and my 5,1 Mac Pro, that just got a newer backplane and power supply, will not boot....yet again...
So after much deliberation, went with an I7 Mac mini, yup over the m1.
as spec’ed out was the same exact price.
M1 with 1tb hd, and 16 gig.

I7 with a 512 hd, 8 gigs of ram I will upgrade later at non Apple prices.
the intel runs what I need now, my daws and plugins, I can use my Vega card with a egpu, and will get the high point thunderbolt exclosure for my highpoint mvme card. That will add 4tb of fast hard drive space.
glad i did not do all the cable management for the 5,1 , it will be much different going this way.
and I will still have bootcamp!
