Were ads in Apple apps before JB?

I'm not sure if my memory is faulty or what, but I don't remember ads being in Apple apps prior to jailbreaking... for example, I'm seeing a banner ad for 'We Farm' at the bottom of my screen while I'm in the phone's Settings app (screenshot below). I hope this isn't the start of adware for the iphone

No, that shouldn't be there. You downloaded something that you shouldn't have.

Well, at least I know not to be mad at Apple. I've installed:

LockInfo (w/ ClockHide)
WeatherIcon

SpringFlash
20sec LockScreen

(and no, the ads are not always there)

Its a bug in Activator

That's what I have noticed. If I return to home while in Activator, the ad stays there. Once I enter Activator and exit back to Settings using the menu bar, it goes away.

This. The ads are only meant to show in the activator settings but it seems there's a bug

I'd highly recommend running an Ad-Aware or Spybot scan on your iPhone.

I got that too. I also got some phantom icons on the home screen that were all white. Clicking on them did nothing and when I tried to uninstall them, by holding until they wiggled, nothing happened. No x in the corner of the icons. I uninstalled Winterboard and the icons disappeared. The ad banners also disappeared from the bottom of the iOS screens. I'm not very pleased with jailbreaking at this point. Can somebody tell me what happened?

Just reboot your phone, this happened to me.
