I have bought 2x2TB WD My Studio II hard drives, the ones with the e-ink screens on the front.
Normally, I despise and hate the crap software that comes on external hard drives because they are slow, clumsy, buggy, not useful, unnecessary, badly designed, and normally I don't install them. But, reluctantly I installed the WD software.
After installing, I started it and found it was slow, clumsy, not useful and badly designed. It got confused with more than two WD hard drives, didn't update the e-ink screen properly, kept trying to back up everything it could find and changed icons on my computer, without my permission, to some ugly things that a WD engineer decided to include (as a bet maybe?).
Has anyone had any luck in being able to update their e-ink screen on any WD product without using their useless software?
