I have been leaning towards getting a WD hard drive. However, there are tons of reviews showing that people hate the fact that they can not get rid of the Virtual CD icon on the desktop.

Now WD suggested a way to get it off, but you have to run virtual cd manager to get rid of it.

Any thoughts on this?

Someone out there surely knows how to wipe a WD clean of the their wd smartware. I just want to plug the thing in and use time machine without getting my desktop cluttered with a useless icon.

Thanks.
