Ive tried all possible options but really need help now.
I have a G4 Power PC running USB2.0
OS 10.4.11
Two Internal Drives

I purchased a WD My Book Home edition. Followed instructions and correctly formatted for Mac.
Firstly *(and it now seems a fluke) on power up it switched on and appeared but ever since then, light does come on when I put the main power on but it wont show/mount on the desktop, unless I switch off the drive and back on again and even then it may not power up unless I unplug the power cable.

Im totally lost as to why it wont just appear when booting up.

My concern is all this powering down etc. is going to loose me my data. Also my kids use it to access their music and it really needs to just switch on/mount/dis-mount/off etc at the same time as powering on and off the main mac unit.

Ive also ensured that I have the latest software for the WD drive.

HELp........Please....

have you tried ..........

Thanks for that link
Ive tried this suggested procedure from WD, plug in first then power up etc. and tried in reverse but the issue is it it may appear that time but that time only.
The problem is that it wont then auto mount after that when powering up the Mac sqay a day or so later. The light comes on etc but I have to then switch the WD HD off and switch back on then it appears on the desktop.

I may be wrong but I am assuming that this Ex HDD should show automatically when powering up the Mac, on the desktop, without the need to either switch the HDD of at the button or unplug then re plug in.

I thought I did have the answer in my previous posts but im still struggling.

I dont mind unplugging etc to get it to show but I cant teach my 11 yr old daughter to do the same.
I fear for my data on this drive.
Cheers
