Hiya guys.

I was going to get a WD MyBook with FireWire 800, but this deal looks good. Amazon have the external drive mentioned in the title for £99.99.

Just a couple questions before I bring out the plastic:
1. Does anyone know how quiet it is, and how hot it runs?
2. I assume it will be perfect for Time Machine - It's 750GB and I have a 320GB HDD in my iMac.
3. Is it a good price?

Thanks very much!

I bought the black 750GB My Book from BestBuy yesterday for $180 (USD) after taxes. I bought it specifically for Time Machine. It's really quite. I plugged it in, and my Mac saw it, it asked me a few questions, and Time Maching started backing up my files. Sweet! I guess the only bad part is, I noticed that only 690GB out of 750 was available. Hmmmm . . .

Glad to hear it is quiet, and that you are using it the same as I intend to. Reassuring since I ordered it yesterday! The reason it looks like it is 690GB is the way we use the term Gigabyte. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte should give you some more information.

Do you know if it was formatted in FAT or NTFS?
