Hi everyone,

I've read a few threads so far but still not sure if integrating iPhoto on my MBP and WD Mycloud will work.

I get that I should not attempt to put the iPhoto library on the mycloud itself, but what if I put the iPhoto library on an external hd attached to the mycloud? I would use mycloud as a time machine backup, store the iPhoto library on the external drive which is attached to the mycloud, and be able to access it all from my MBP!

I think this would work since the external drive could be formatted properly to handle iPhoto libraries. What do you all think?

Thanks!

That would work, but the flaw in your plan is Time Machine will not backup from networked drives like that. You could put the iPhoto library on the external like you want, then use Time Machine to backup your Mac to the MyCloud device, then something like Carbon Copy Cloner to schedule routine copies of the iPhoto library on the external to a backup folder on the MyCloud device as a work around.
