Western Digital Portable Hard drives...Anyone care to give their two cents?

I'm looking into purchasing a portable hard drive and was aiming towards the WD My Passport 500GB.

Anyone have any problems with this hard drive?

Any recommendations?

If you can look past the VCD (which can be disabled via software from WD's site), WD drives are always a good bet.

I have two of the one you have, but in black, one 500GB and the other 320GB, plus a My Book Essential 2TB Second Edition.

So far, so good.

I plan on picking up a 1TB My Passport to use a as a media drive with my WD HD TV Media Player.

Is there a way to erase the VCD? Because if you disabled it, it would just still be on the hdd and take up space right?
