Western Digital Studio Placement

Is it safe to put a Western Digital Studio hard drive on its side? If so, is one side better than another?

I think they work both ways, I don't have a studio but have a mybook and mybookworld. They work both ways but rely on convection for cooling so I would recommend an open area with the drive vertical if you are leaving them on for long periods.

Both of mine have been running for 3 months without a turn off in that state with no issues
