What 13" MBP to buy for less than $1000

I'm a graphic designer and finally going mobile (away for my imac when I can) therefor about to get MBP for below $1000. Not sure what to look for or what spec will be useful as I'm not too technical about all that stuff. Would really appreciate you advices folks.

The later, the better. 2011 or 2012 at the minimum. 2012 preferably due to having HD 4000 over the 2011's HD 3000 graphics. You'll be able to cheaply and easily add up to 16 gb of ram and a SSD later on.

Apple sells refurbished 2.4 GHz i5 models for $929 and refurbished 2.5 GHz i5 models for $1019. I'd be inclined to the 2.5 GHz because it uses Ivy Bridge - which offers superior graphics (HD4000 vs. HD3000), USB3, and slightly faster RAM (1600 MHz vs. 1333 MHz).

If you can stretch to $1019, do that.

You can also look at used MBPs - you'll see a lot of used i5 models under $1000. If you go that route, make sure it's still under warranty so you can add Applecare.

You can also upgrade the RAM and storage in any of them.
