I like many, many others am waiting to buy a G5 and will be setting it up for surround sound. Any insights?

I have a friend who bought the Logitech Z-680 and they sound REALLY great. As a plus, they also have optical input that the G5 can take advantage of, and it has a very nice "base station" and remote.

The Z-680's are wonderful speakers. Just as an option, you might want to look at some of the "home theater in a box" packages, which seem to run from $199US and up, most of which come with digital in. But for $299, the 680's sound beautiful.

You might also want to consider buying separate components - a small but decent receiver, etc. That way, you could upgrade as you are able to afford it.

I've got mine hooked up to a fairly high-end system (~$3500, not amazing, but nice) and the audio sounds great.

How about this? Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1
