Hi everyone,

I came upon the Axiotron Modbook. And I have a few questions about it, and I hope some people could help me out :

1 - How well does it work ?
2 - How quick are they from order - shipping - receiving ?
3 - I live in the UK and soon Ireland, so where can I find one ?
4 - Are they reliable machines ?
5 - I love the design (between user to pro design), do you ?

I will probably have more questions and comments once people chip in. I would love to hear from anybody, if they do have a Axiotron Modbook and what they think about it.

Cheers.

1 - from what I've heard, it works very well, and the screen is very touch sensitive which is good.

2 - I don't know the exact details, but I heard it takes somewhere between 1 - 3 weeks to get it.

4 - www.macsales.com

5 - I like the design, but for the price, I wouldn't buy it. The ModBook really is for people that want a touch sensitive screen for Photoshop or rich people who want to impress. :D

I reckon you are right. I would love to see a demo of the ModBook in UK or Ireland and to see a price drop (probably if it is popular).

I have a Modbook - got it in June - and I agree with Mr B, it's a great piece of gear! I'm using it as my primary computer now and while the smaller screen sometimes is limiting, I love the pen interface and find it annoying going back to a mouse when using other computers. I use a frogpad keypad with it which eliminates the limitations of HWR.

For drawing and photoshop, working directly on the screen is absolutely natural and I would never so back to the "old" method. It's so much more intuitive and realistic to be touching directly the image that you are working on. OK, you get that with the cintiq but you don't get the portability, which in the end was for me the thing that clinched the deal. I can take it up a mountain top - try doing that with a cintiq!

It's a fantastic item and I love it!

I would love to get a Modbook, but I can't dig the non-keyboard interface. I need a keyboard; it's not easy doing 100 WPM writing, so why try?

But if they turned a MBA into a convertible, I'd pay big bucks for that!
