In discussions about the XR, it is often noted that the ppi will be the same 326 that is on the 4.7” iPhones. I’m okay with that, though I would prefer a higher ppi as the Plus-sized phones have for a little sharper text. How will the size of fonts of the XR typically compare with those of my 6s, considering that there are apps that are evidently not affected by changing the size of fonts in settings?

I really need larger fonts than I have on my 6s because of my poor vision. I often take off my glasses and hold the phone closer to my nearsighted eyes to read news articles and such. If the XR has more text but the fonts are no larger, then that’s not going to help. Thanks.

So it depends on the App and if it was developed using Xcode 9 or Xcode 10. If the app was developed in Xcode 10 the target is the XS Max / Xr device that uses the same number of screen points (414×896.) Apps will basically look the same as the Max but a little smaller. If an app was developed using Xcode 9 it doesn't know about the Xs / Max or XR and will treat both as an iPhone X (375×812 screen points) but "zoomed" in. So the screen elements will be the same but large on both the Max and Xr.

Over all Apps on the Xr should be a little large on the Xr (than an X r Xs) unless it was specifically developed for the Max in which case the screen elements COULD look a little smaller than the X depending on if the developer took advantage of those extra screen points.
