When I had a new contact through my phone, it instantly syncs to my google account, but not my iCloud. Basically any contact I have added in the last 4 years is NOT on my iCloud contact list even though I have contacts turned on, on my phone and I add the contact using my phone. I never would have noticed except I just got an iPad and all my "new" contacts in iMessage are #s and not their name. How do I fix this and prevent this from happening in the future?

Edit: It appears if I go into settings > contacts > default account > icloud (instead of gmail). This fixes it so new contacts added to my phone go to iCloud. But I still can't figure out how to get my other #s to iCloud? "Merging" in the iCloud setting seems to do nothing.

Make sure that you have free iCloud storage space, I've had issues with iCloud syncing when I had only 5gb of storage, but now that I have 200gb, I have had no issues.
