Hi Everyone,

A Friend & I are about to start working on a new iPhone app, and we are trying to come up with some ideas for what's NOT out there. We've come up with a few ideas, one of which is still pending approval from a third-party company, but I thought we should ask the iPhone users what they want. What need do you feel has not been filled by what's out there now?

This app will be free, or like $0.99, we're not looking to make a ton of money, just learn and have some fun.

What would you like to see developed?

If you guys could get licensed to produce an electronic version of kenkyuusha japanese english and english japanese dictionary I would pay any price!! seriously if you guys could create a series of high quality dictionaries getting LICENSES from top publishers like commercial press for chinese, HKU press in cantonese, or stuff like that you would have SOO MANY PEOPLE willing to buy it especially since Japan and Hong Kong now own iphones and they recognize these brands if you get Kenkyuusha everyone in Japan will buy it, if you get commercial press everyone in Hong Kong and soon China will buy it. You will make soo much money including students of these languages also recognize these brands and will want to buy them because they are known as the top tiers of language dictionaries. You guys I guarantee you will make a mint I was planning on making this myself but I honestly am not a programmer and its hard to raise cash to hire people in this economic nightmare. I've done market research on this guys if you want to know more contact me you guys will make a mint!

NASCAR App of some kind, there are sports apps that cover most other sports but nothing dedicated to motorsports results in realtime that works good.

I'd love a mobile scrobbler for my iPod Touch and my iPhone/iPhone 3G. I'm not sure you could get it past Apple since it would have to run in the background while you are using the iPod.

If you want more info on last.fm and scrobbling click here.

mobile DVR

i would like a app that i could program my DVR set top cable box from my iphone, its a motorola so i know you would probably have to jump through some hoops with them, i know TIVO has one with verizon

PCTV togo

OH one more, access my pctv to go, its the competitor with sling box i saw there was a post for sling box so make one for pctv too

The most important things to me are:

1) automatic scheduled, customized profiling
-ability to have all ringers and vibration silenced during sleep hours
-ability to have everything set to vibrate during work hours
-ability to have ringer on the rest of the time.

2) cut and paste

3) ability to easily store and send documents from the iPhone. airsharing is the easiest thus far for doc storage (I've purchased and tried the others as well), but even it is very cumbersome, and there's no way to email a document.

4) device stays on when in charger, but times out and sleeps when not in charger/cradle.

as I understand it though, these things are not possible given the SDK and would require OS changes from Apple.

app for posting to forums etc.

Any chance of an app that lets you post text and photos to various of the popular forum types.

this one
drupal forums etc.

we can post text using the web interface but not pictures.

transcribing receipts & business cards

I would like an application that would allow me to photograph a receipt or business card and then translate the image file into a text file that could then be imported into an excel file plus for my records.
