I used to have an app that took a picture of whatever was on your desktop. What is it called? I think there was an explosion or a frog as the icon.

Or any other app that can take on this duty,
 
Can use the built in screenshot shortcuts

Whole screen: cmd+shift+3
Selection: cmd+shift+4
Window: cmd+shift+4+spacebar
 
ok, maybe i'm a dumbass but i tried the selection thing with control, shift, 4 and it lets me scan around the image but how to i actually take the picture? where does it save it?

Drag a rectangle and let go. The pic will be on your desktop :)
