Looking for apps everyone is using, I often see a 'green leaf' in their dock, a 'pen and an inck jar' icon, and a little 'truck' icon in their docks. And then there is a miniature cartoonesc 'drawing table' icon which I see quite often.

What are these?

Also a guy here: http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=89095&d=1193557395

Is able to put 'spaces' between the icons, something that I'm exactly looking for, yet fail to find in the 'guides', anyone have a tip?

And then I've also seen a funky 'crazy rabbit' icon, there I'm just curious what it is :)

The spaces are sort of fake applications with blank icons that you drag in to the dock.
Go here and scroll down to "Dock Dividers". Download the archive and there are blank spacers to use in there.

The pen in the in jar (its not really in it is in front of it) is pages, a word processing software kinda like Microsoft word. The truck icon is something to do with an FTP client or so i think, i am not sure here.

I have a few custom icons i made myself. I have pirate flag (skull and bones) that i use to store my ripped DVD's and i used to have a download folder with a pic of the internet on it.

I say have fun with your custom icons/folders and make your mac really your mac.

Better yet, if you are on Leopard just type this into Terminal:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add '{ "tile-data" = { "list-type" = 1; }; "tile-type" = "spacer-tile"; }'

Then type this:
Code:
killall Dock

Then move the Spacer tile to wherever you want. You can even move it over to the documents section. You can add as many Spacer tiles as you want.

I just made a copy and then used that.

Now that is a better way to do it in my opinion, thanks for the tip.

Thanks :D

also how has the guy in the 1st post got the iStat pro style stats on his desktop?

Thanks for the replies guys, found everything you said and discovered some very interesting programs with that! Transmit looks very nice.

The drawing table is Keynote from iLife apparently :)

Interesting thread this has become! :)

This is beautifull!
