Is there any benefit on updating from
iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8
for non apple eco-system user.
I use only iPod Classic and iPhone 5S

Max, stop being so negative, just jump backwards over a table shooting some guys while you fly through the air in slow motion (or is it the new iPhone 6 240 FPS video capture) and feel better. :D

All the different kinds of Extensions. It's what makes iOS 8 groundbreaking compared to previous versions.

let me rephrase my question.
I am Linux user and posses old Win-7 computer for using iTune (app, sync, backup, etc).

Since..... I don't use other apple devices.... and iOS8 has many new features that needs coordination of apple eco-system.
...
Now...
what will i miss, If i don't update to iOS.

Nobody is going to convince you to update your phone. Have a look at the link that was posted above, if you like what you see, update. If you don't like what you see, don't update.

You will miss some big updates for some apps.
Eventually, they will all be updated to iOS 8 and you can only use a version that is compatible with iOS 7. And you will have tons of apps with updates available and with new functionalities and you can't update or use them.

And of course, the new iOS 8 functions.
