Trying to find out if this is the correct memory for an early 2011 MacBook Pro.

Corsair 16GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3 1333MHz SODIMM 16GB DDR3 1333MHz memory module

Apple state that the Early 2011 only supports 8Gb but that is I understand not true it will support 16GB. Would welcome confirmation that these are the right chips to use. i.e that they are technically equivalent to same chips in 4Gb size (apart from the capacity)

OP;
If this is the memory you are referring to:
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...l-DDR3-SODIMM-Memory-Kit/p/CMSA16GX3M2A1333C9

From Corsair's Web page:
"TESTED AT APPLE DEVELOPER COMPATIBILITY LABS FOR GUARANTEED PERFORMANCE
CORSAIR's Mac memory kits are tested at Apple Developer Compatibility Labs and work with most MacBook® Pro, iMac®, and Mac mini systems shipped in 2011.

Not sure if your older Mac will work with 8GB DDR3 SODIMMs? Get in touch with us, and we'll help."

Then it looks like, according to the specs, it should work. I did use Crucial in my late 2011 MBP and not Corsair because I have had good luck with Crucial and trusted them.
