What are some comparable PC specs to the Mac Mini?

Yes, I know I posted another thread regarding how well the Mac Mini is compared with my own system; but in this thread, I want to know, if you were given any computer specs basically, what would the Mac Mini be comparable to? (In the Windows world.)

I'm curious to know what you guys think would be a comparable competitor to the Mac Mini, so to speak, I suppose

Of course, you could also argue that this is like comparing apples to oranges, but try not to think of it as this way

Pentium M at same speed and same memory , but depends if you're thinking of a how snappy the OS is or how fast it will process video or convert raw pictures

actually AOpen is going to use a pentium M for their mac mini rip off

Mac Mini, from my limited usage, seems comparable to a nice Celeron @ 2GHz. I mean, I'll admit... I've only used floor models... but each time I've been disgusted at how slow they ran.

well that explains it a floor model has only 256mbs of ram among other things and may of had a ton of programs running at the same time, IMHO a Mac mini with 768mbs of ram will run at around a Pentium 4 2.4ish or a top of the line AMD xp(around 2800)(although it has around double the FSB)(not 64 bit) what cripples the Mac mini is the limited front side bus, I mean even Intel’s FSB is exaggerated with the multiplier with the 800fsb running at around 400-500mhz more realistically , and the 533 running at around 266mhz well the the G4 runs at a lowly 133mhz.
Edit: I am referring to a 1.42 GHz model, and the slow 4200rpm laptop hard drive hinders its performance, replacing the drive with a 7200rpm will greatly improve performance.

cuz u know you can have 768 memory on a mini and all... it would be 512 or 1 gig if i am correct.

In my experience with a 1.42GHz, 256mb Mac Mini, I'd say it's around a 2GHz P4/Celeron with similar or slightly less Ram, same HD speed.

Just for the record, a P-M will beat a G4 at anywhere near the same speed, given similar specs elsewhere.

The biggest weaknesses in the Mac Mini are the hard drive speed, and GPU.
I would rather see a MM two to three times the size with desktop parts than the current system. That's still pretty small.

Only get a Mac Mini if you really want something small, and don't use a computer for more than surfing, viewing pictures, and light Photoshop work. My friend got the one above, and he's already thinking about getting something faster.

A mac mini is probably comparable to a peecee with a Celeron D processor (under 2.8GHz).
