What are some of the cool new things that iOS 9 will allow apps to do?

Just wondering how apps will take advantage of the new tools?

I know we will see apps utilize 3D touch, spotlight search integration, iPad multitasking, and app thinning, but I'm wondering what other sorts of improvements we will see.

Is this the first release where apps can talk to each other?
