I noticed that the back of the case has got a lot of more hl\oles too, it must be making tons of heat, also i thought i saw verticaly mounted harddrives? correct me if im wrong.

Hahahahaaa....that's frickin' hilarious

How's that back end of the PowerMac....talk about shotgun blast

If the all the vents are there for better circulation and less fan noise...I'm all for it

LOL!!!!:p

It looks more like the firering range in Utah, thats what they do to the killers, instead of lethal injection!!!!!:D

The holes on the front of the case remind me of the Pontiac Firebird and GTO which had "Ram Air" to keep the engine supplied with cooler air.

The back of the machine looks like those drilled aluminium pedals you can get for cars. Add some LEDs, some neon, some funky blue headlights, and you have a winner (or something). :D

I was looking at one of the 360 QuickTime Mov's on Apple's website and it does in fact look like the Hard Drives are mounted vertically. How is that going to affect performance?

Should not affect performance, but there are those that would argue it may alter MTBF.

But it's debateable whether the new placement is any worse than the location of the bottom drive in a piggyback tray. Heat issues with that specific drives placement "may" be worse than turning the drive on the side and letting air flow around it.

Hopefully the new towers do a better job of keeping the dual HDs cool than the old tower did.

And yet the only intelligent posts were made by people with 4 digit posts.

Yes, they are supposed to keep the PowerMac cool because of the heat. But, don't forget, the 7455 processor was SEVERELY overclocked, a full 25 percent. To make the heat issue worse, you have a dual processor mod.

There's only one place for Apple to go if faster chips cannot be produced...IBM.

It seems we have a Demi-God in need of some worshipping.

The rest of you will have to excuse me while I go leave an offering at this god’s porcelain alter.

One small question, since I'm a little rusty at this Demi-God worship thing –

When you leave an offering to the Demi-Gods at their alter, are you supposed to flush?

>When you leave an offering to the Demi-Gods at their alter, are you supposed to flush?

Nah. But a small contribution will give you one year's worth of stuff you won't want to live w/o.

Let's compare:
Mug + power: $30
.mac: $50 or $100
Jaguar: $129

You choose.

THis might tell us somthing, 1: apple chose to overclock a older processor instead of opting for a new one 2: All dual processor machines, mabe to get rid of apple's last supply of motorola processors, mabe this means that these are the last Powermacs with moto processors. They could be draining out their last supply of 7455's so they can buy some IBM Power4s   , or so we hope.

i'd say jaguar, supporting macrumors, .mac in order of importance and value

i could live without the second 2... heck, i could live without jaguar. but not if i wanted to do many things via my mac...

"Shut the **** up she said, im going ****ing deth, every thing is too loud, its too loud, now that all my friends left this place is ****ing dead, I want to move out when can we move out, this **** has got to stop, I'll run away!" - Blink182 ,the song is called "shut up"

Its a cool song, I just thought I should type it out;)

if you look at the quicktime video (sorry, too lazy to get a link right now), it seems the front vent holes are for a fan mounted just behind them.

the ones in the back are mostly for the giant heat sink, though there's another fan up top -- holes for that fan, too.
