Because it is. The iPad 4 and mini LTE models aren't available till then. Only wifi models come out today.

Went to have a look at the mini at my local Apple store and I was the only person on the normal iPad table, the rest were surrounded around the iPad mini table, so judging from that I would say you can get the iPad 4 very easily.

50/50. Completely depends on the individual store. Just call ahead to see if they have anything in stock for you.

I went to the Apple Store around 3pm today, there was a lot of people inside, all cramed around the iPad Mini table. I had to check to be sure the regular iPads were the 4, thinking maybe they didn't have them yet.

But they were. Amazing how the Mini was stealing all the attention.

They were out of white minis (all flavors) but still had all the mini blacks, and all the iPad 4 too.

Note : I'm not in NYC, and I live near LA, where you can find an Apple Store at every corner. Maybe that's why.

I picked up 3 ipad 4's between 4PM-5PM (2 64GB wifi white, and 1 16GB white wiif). For me, my brother and my brother in law.

I had to drive to 3 different targets cause one didn't have any 64GB ipad 4's left and the one that did refused to sell me 2 64GB even though they had plenty left in stock.

I just checked my local Target's in Central Florida, plenty of stock of iPad 4's even at 9pm.

I just came back from my local apple store and they had tons of iPad 4's in stock. You should have no problem. I'm now writing this from my brand new 32 gb iPad 4.
