What are the metal pads on the inside of the headband?

It looks like there are metal pads that would lay against the temples. I assumed EEG but those sensors aren't listed. Could anyone explain what purpose they serve?

Huh. I think that's just the backside of the speaker unit. Probably has some acoustic benefit to not be covered in the material that the rest of the piece is covered in. Seems awfully big though.

Also, I don't think any of that area touches your temple / skin.
