I am new to consoles, i used to play them when i was really young but i switched to PC games, if a game did not come out on a PC i did not play it. The last game i played was a PS1 game. I feel i am missing out, so i went and got myself a PS3 and an Xbox 360. I do own a wii but i never played it more then an hour.

What games should i get? i am at a total lost.

Thanks in advanced.

Edit: Sorry for posting this in the wrong forum, i never knew there was a console section, thanks to the mod who moved it here.

Look these up on IGN and see which you like. Black = me, green = others.

Wii:
Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3
Super Paper Mario
Zelda: Twilight Princess
RE4 Remake
RE: UC
Excite Truck

PS3:
Resistance: Fall of Man
Motorstorm
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Assassin's Creed
Guitar Hero 3
Warhawk
Ratchet & Clank Future

Xbox 360:
Gears of War
The Outfit
Bioshock
Halo 3 (if you like Halo I guess)
Crackdown
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Viva Piñata
Mass Effect
Call of Duty 4

Red Steel a must have Wii game ? Maybe Zack & Wiki instead.

Outfit (albeit an overlooked good game) a must have 360 game?
Replace with Call of Duty 4 ;)

Enter the picky player;

Wii
Mario Galaxy
Twilight Princess
Wii Sports
Excite Truck

DS
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
New Mario (this has really grown on me now!)
Kirby's magic paintbrush (or whatever, my monitors in the way :D)

PSP
Dracula X Chronicles
Monster Hunter 2
GTA:VCS
Metal Slug Anthology

I can't pick one for the PS3 or 360 yet. I'm pretty certain GTA IV will be on there since I love the series and that. Nothing has really stood out as a game I'll still be playing in 5-10 years time (which is how I judge a "Great game").

Everyone I have spoken to has said Call of Duty 4. Make of that what you will.

I'm a fan of Assassins Creed so far, although the complaints are true (silliest AI ever, basically)

I like Rampage for the Wii. Isn't there a new resident evil? Umbrella chronicles I think it is called. That's probably fun.

That viva pinata game makes me want a 360. I've only played Halo on the regular xbox, but I would recommend the new one just from experience with the other.

I just checked the Katamari website and I see they have a version for the xbox 360. It's called Beautiful Katamari. Now I REALLY want a 360 :(

You gotta be kidding...

Why? Because your opinion is different to mine.

Sure the game has its faults and the graphics aren't great, but it's solid nevertheless. Would I have bought it if it didn't have Wii controls? Hell no. By that I mean, it was must-have because of the original control style at the time, but there are probably better wii remote shooters now. By the way, does anyone in this thread actually OWN red steel or just read a couple of average reviews?

I own it. It's not solid, it's buggy and unpolished. They were close to having something great... you can feel it... but it fell short. I sort of liked it but if you want to see what a first person game (not necessarily shooter) on the Wii is supposed to be like just play Metroid Prime 3. :D I mean, it's true Red Steel was a launch title and the first to use that kind of control scheme and that's a big reason why I got it too, but at this point it's not worth it.

Super Smash Brother Brawl next year will undoubtedly be a Must Have for the Wii as well. Same goes for the new Mario Kart (but we'll see about that).

I OWN(before I threw it out the window) this game and theres nothing solid about this game. The games has a lot of bugs which I would not recommend as a MUST HAVE for the console...the wii has more titles that deserve this spot.

Now watch me roll my eyes and do all the others:rolleyes::):D:mad::(:p:cool:;)

If a game with bugs is automatically exempt from any "best of" lists then I hope you include certain AAA titles that have crippling bugs too.

Don't be silly Jimmi.

People are only saying Red Steel is contentious because it's a severlely average, generic and ultimately lacking game.

Awful graphics, bland AI, a shooting mechanic which is severely lacking (anyone who thinks this works hasn't played Metroid), a typically awful story, appalling cutscenes, strung together with generic audio.

Did the control scheme improve the game ? No! this is my own and the majority of other reviewers opinions.

The best thing about the game were the flawed sword combat sequences. Flawed because you ultimately only had about 3 moves and at the end of the day they made up like 5% of the game.

A game which promised so much in previews and developers commentarys and blogs, but delivered very little. An extra year in development to improve the graphics which were sub ps2 and the control system which indeed felt very 'tacked on' and the game may have been received better. But it didn't.

Sure there are people who like the game, but when the people who like the game are in the minority to the general consensus of people who didn't - then you have to ask yourself, regardless of your own personal opinion - should this game be on a MUST HAVE list ?

The answer.... NO

I'm not defending it, it's a poor game. I agree that a buggy game is a bad game. This opinion got me castrated by the community before when certain more popular games had problems ;)

No, no, no! Its not a must own...it was fun at launch, because it was so different from any other FPS, but the controls and graphics hurt it. I think if UBisoft made a 2nd one, it could be very very good. Because the controls seemed like they could be good....if Ubisoft had fixed them.

(yes, I own it)

Ok, settle down. That is why I said to look them up on IGN so that he can make up HIS mind on what he likes, not you. It's removed from the list now just for you. :)

I think you are the one that needs to settle down...you could put it back on your list for all I care...the reason for this thread is to cipher through the MUST OWN games for the consoles....I think its quite clear its not a must own game for the masses but if you think it is then thats your thing(just as Silent hill is my thing which is a good game by the way).

There are better games for the wii than red steel.

Note: you might want to fix your list...COD4 & Ratchet N Clank are not for the wii.

My PRIMO pick would be Red Steel. It has much gleaming majesty. :p I sold this game, it's bad. MoH2 is the best cliché FPS on the Wii and MP3 is the best of its type -- great game.

And even though the PC is technially not a console, it has had some of the best games to date on any system.

I know I'm missing dozens upon dozens of games, so will be back later to make this post longer.

I'd love to play Capcom vs SNK now I know about King of Fighters and am addicted to Metal Slug.
