What are the pros and cons using USB memory stick rather than SD card on iPP + iPad OS?

Any advantage using the usually bigger USB memory stick?
 
More space? Faster speeds? Not sure I get the question though as there are a ton a SD and USB drive variants. Just use whatever you prefer.
 
Between SD card and USB stick, is there one more reliable than the other?
