I'm looking to purchase an MBA M1, but like most people, am stuck in a month long wait.

Searching around I found a store nearby that is selling exactly what I want. I checked on Apple's website to see if they were an unofficial retailer, but nothing came up.

I'm not worried about getting scammed or anything of the sort. I'm primarily wondering what (if any) are the risks when buying a MBA from an unoficial retailer when it comes to Apple's warranty. For instance, if I need a replacement for whatever reason - can I exchange it with Apple or would I deal with the retailer I purchased the laptop from?

I do plan on adding AppleCare+ to the laptop.

FWIW I'm near Toronto, Canada.

Thank you.

First, have you done a search here: https://locate.apple.com/ ?

If you cannot find any confirmation that the seller is an Apple Authorized retailer, there is always going to be some risk. Three potential problems that immediately come to mind are:
1. Apple won't let you buy Apple Care, obtain warranty service, or participate in any mass repair programs (such as the programs for butterfly keyboards or display backlights).
2. The seller swaps or removes Apple OEM components from the machine you buy.
3. Apple refuses to do any work on the computer, such as a battery replacement or a screen repair.

I'd say the decision comes down to how quickly you need the MBA M1, how long you plan to keep the computer, and your tolerance for risks.
