What are the steps for activation then Mobile Me

OK I have Mobile Me. Now what are the steps to getting activated then hooking up to Mobile Me. Do I get activated, then download Itunes 7.0 or whatever, then hook up to Mobile Me. Is this correct?
 
the service isn't really up yet. you'll need the 2.0 OS as well as iTunes 7.7 too
