What are these lines? Failed video card?

Every now and then these random lines appear on my screen. Eventually they go away but without fail a few days go by and they come back.

You need to take that to the Apple store and get a new one. Def. a hardware issue.

Will the pictures work or will they need to see the lines. Because they just went away.
