What are these software coupons for?

I've bought iLife 08, Aperture 2, and Logic Studio. They all came with 4 "Software Coupons". What are they for? I can't seem to find an answer. I mean, they can't be for upgrades because those are free. And you don't need it for a boxed upgrade, because that you just buy. So what are they for?

Duff-Man says...they've been including those coupons in most boxed software for years and years now. I seem to recall using one once - way back in the OS 8 days, but why they still include them is a bit of a mystery - perhaps they just don't want to rule out needing one to get an upgrade someday....oh yeah!
