And how do I get rid of them? Everything is responsive and functioning as normal, they're just annoying. I'm not under warranty, so going to the apple store is not an option...

I googled it and everyone is saying that the LCD screen under the glass is broken and needs to be replaced. :(

How are not under warranty? You have an iPhone 5s. You get a one year warranty with the phone, so it would not be up until October or so. Just take the phone in.

If you're brave enough, you can buy the parts at ebay for 90 dollar with shipping, and change it by yourself ( just a suggestion )

You can find the whole display assembly for the iPhone 5 for as low as $42.

OP, looks like you may have a defective screen. I recommend a visit to the Apple Store for a solid diagnosis before considering your potential options. Good luck!

as another poster suggested, I would take to be apple store to at least get a diagnosis... maybe you will get a friendly genius who will help you out.

I just got back from the apple store since my iPhone 5s had a single vertical line of dead pixels. it was very fine and could really only be seen on the edge of text. they swapped it
out with a new one right away. hopefully my 3rd 5s is the charm... my original one was replaced since the upper right edge of the screen started to separate.

apple genius said they currently don't have replacement screen kits (in apple store) so they just swap out phones for any issues.

good luck!

If you got your iPhone Fall of 2012, I would just brave it out, you will probably be due for an upgrade when the 6 is released.
