Post what you are most fascinated by of what you've seen in your lifetime (in pictures).

No one is amazed by anything?:(

You pretty much summed up what I would have said. Just the capabilities of computers in general has increased an incredible amount in my lifetime. More specifically, the processing power and data capacity (RAM, hard drives, etc...).

I am kind of saddened that, at least in my opinion, software hasn't taken full advantage of it. Things are a lot prettier now, we have space for all kinds of media, etc...but the way we actually use computers really hasn't changed much in the last twenty years. The internet was obviously the big change, but that wasn't so much a function of computing horsepower as it was a huge shift in communication.

Nature, especially the oceans and the life within them. Studying it for even a short period of time reveals there is such a staggering amount of information we have no clue about, it is incredible.

I am amazed folks here go so ape **** over the yearly Macworld meeting.

Some profess to not sleeping they are so excited.

When I get that bad please tell me to shut my iMac and my iPhone off please.

Certainly the galaxy is amazing, but it seems that the OP intended for us to talk about amazing things that occurred within our lifetimes.

  1. The quality and realism of modern 3D videogames compared to what we had only 10 years ago.
  2. Apple's design team.
They seem to be singularly capable of surprising the World with new innovations.
  3. The non-use of nuclear weapons in an act of aggression over the past 62 years.
  4. Firemen that ascended the Twin Towers during the attack on 9/11
  5. The global spellchecker in OSX has apparently not had much impact on the incidence of misspelled words in forum posts.

I'm amazed by how much of every day my cats spend sleeping. I don't see how photos would help but I could take a twenty-hour long video ...
