As the title says. I'll give mine:
  • 8K@120hz
    • This would allow for true 2x scaled 4K Retina
  • USB-C PD 100w
  • Display Stream Compression (DSC), thus allowing for a single USB-C/Thunderbolt cable to be used.
  • DisplayPort 2.0 so when that becomes more common, DSC can be disabled for the purists
  • 4k camera built in
  • Integrated AppleTV so the screen can alternatively be used as a TV in the evenings (Great for offices in guest bedrooms)
Is that really so much to ask for? ?

Realistically, all of these things combined would be pushing the limits of USB4/Thunderbolt, hence why DSC would be a requirement if not connected via DisplayPort 2.0

What would I still totally be willing to pay for?
  • 8K@60hz
  • USB-C PD 60w
  • DSC/DisplayPort 1.4 only
    • Use of a single cable would still be possible given DSC
  • No camera or AppleTV integrated.

Even DisplayPort 2.0 can't do "8K" at 120 Hz without DSC.
Ahh you're right. Well in either case, Apple already uses DSC on the Pro Display XDR, so it's not like they're opposed to using it. Should open the door to daisy chaining as well.

The million dollar question of course is how much you're willing to pay ;)

I too would love an 8k/60 (or 120) screen capable of being driven by a single cable :)
I could easily see a monitor of this caliber moving up into the ~$8k range, although honestly I'd probably be willing to pay more.
