I bought my mom an Apple Pencil and she loves it. What are some good accessories for improving functionality/keeping it protected/etc? Thanks!
To me, one of the most important accessory for the apple pencil is some type of protector for the nib side. That's the important part of the pencil. Note, I don't personally have any of the following accessories, but they're stuff that I've come across while researching apple pencil accessories. My favorite is probably the Reedcale accessory, but I'm also trying to see if I can find something locally and cheaper. Still in search of a pen cap/cover that will protect the pencil tip. As far as the pencil grip is concerned, you could simply strip it off a standard pen and use that to add girth comfort.

EDIT: Disregard the Reedcale apple pencil tip protector. I just found a standard ball point pen with those snap on cap that works perfectly fine. Don't use those BIC black and blue pen caps --- those do not work. Too small. Get those fountain pens or gel pens or something down at the dollar tree. They work.
Reedcale, or the pencil nib protector. Note: I keep trying to run a google search for an apple pencil cap but all results comes back is about the magnetic cap that protects the lighting charging side. It took me running searches for "apple pencil nib protector," "apple pencil cover," "apple pencil tip protector," etc. and still comes up with barely any real applicable results.

Depending on your mom's comfort level with using the apple pencil as is, she may want to consider an apple pencil grip. The following kills multiple birds with one stone. It keeps the magnetic cap in place and it also offers a grip.
Unique pencil cases (Ztylus and Moko)
Ztylus: There are two generations. The first generation comes in white, was thicker, and plastic. The second generation is encased in some type of metal aluminum, sturdier. But also a flawed designed. Both have their pros and cons. Definitely read amazon's reviews on it. The biggest con to the Zytlus, according to one review, is that it prevent the use of the apple pencil's tilt function for drawing purposes, and that is the predominant reason for why I decided to pass on all three products. I specifically bought the 12.9 version along with the apple pencil to draw.
The Moko pencil case uses a similar design but uses a different pencil retraction mechanism. It may or may not be better. Much cheaper in price, but also possibly not as sturdy.
Both brands may or may not scratch the finish on your apple pencil. All three may also break at some point. Read the amazon reviews on these especially those 1 and 2 star reviews. I personally always read the 1-2 star reviews because they usually reveal a lot of important stuff that you need to be concerned about.

holder strap for the app 10.5 comes in more useful than I thought.
The following is someone else's photographs of his pencil holder and his review from amazon (link below). He actually makes a very good point that seems to be overlooked by a lot of individuals. The pencil holder adapter creates a bulge if you try to fold the front cover completely over.
