My Watch is now at 78% capacity and I‘m thinking of upgrading but should I get the ultra 2 or try see if this Watch X materialises?

What Watch X? Nothing has been announced. So your options are to do a battery replacement on the S5 or get a newer watch. Only you know how the S5 fits your needs and how the S7/S8/S9/U1/U2 might fit in there too.

The economy probably needs more consumerism so I’d say buy it. But it’s probably something that you need to spend a little time weighing up the pros and cons. What is it you like and don’t like about the S5? I’d start there.

Or just go and buy the Ultra 2.

I doubt there are major changes to the Ultra next year. I got the ultra 1 at a hefty discount 6 weeks ago, don’t regret it one bit. Upgraded from a Series 5 as well. You’ll love the upgrade to an ultra 2

Ha! With inflation the way it is, the reserve banks are trying to reduce consumerism.

But yeah, the main drivers for an update are really just around the battery life being so awful on the Series 5, the newer gen watches have had improvements to the heart rate sensor and that would be nice because my S5 occasionally stops reading my heart rate during a workout and the bigger brighter display.

I also have a scratch on the display which is more just my bad but it still annoys me. I could get the battery replaced but over the phone Apple said it would cost 450AUD and even if I pay the standard price to fix the battery which is around 130AUD, what’s the point of doing that if I think I’m gonna upgrade over the next year anyway?

I think your questions have helped create a bit of a case for the Ultra 2 I feel.

Just updated from a series 4 to Ultra 2. In my opinion, a good update: I’m enjoying battery life, screen and the new form factor.

It depends on your usages …
I have upgraded my S5 LTE to an Ultra2.
Very nice update but my usage explains this upgrade:
- I am a runner
- I am the developer of an AW running app …
The S5 was very good, but in my situation, upgrade every 4 years seems reasonable
