Since they're being discontinued, how do you think it will work when a customer under warranty needs to have his 3G replaced? The supply is completely depleted but let's assume for the sake of progression that it's going to be discontinued and the Apple Stores have completely run out of refurbished 3G iPhones.

Apple usually keeps plenty of stock of older phones for replacements. You might get lucky and get a 3GS, but most likely you will get a 3G.

Pretty sure Apple can still replace 2G's. Don't think they'll have any problem replacing 3G's.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Apple still has a supply of 2G's, so they are not going to run out of the 3G replacements anytime soon.
