What audio format for FCP7?

hi guys,

I've been offered a chance to edit a radio play. I've never done this before and will be editing on FCP7.

Ideally, what audio format should the play be recorded in? I've been asked what format I want it in.

ask them what options you have.

you want to get uncompressed PCM audio.
WAV or AIFF

Do you know how they plan on recording, multiple tracks?
FCP 7 will generally handle multi-channel WAVs.

16 or 24 bit at 48KHz (FCP 7 will do 96KHz as well).

Since you are going to work in a video program, you might as well throw a camera in front of the performers to act as a guide track and visual reference as to what is going on.

Is 24 bit better quality than 16 bit?

Unfortunately I have no idea how they're going to record multiple tracks. What's the norm for recording get multi tracks?

24 is better. as far as what they can or might do, depends on the recorder they are using, how they are setting up the microphones and how they feed the mics to the recorder.
