What cable for iMac and external monitor

Hi,
I'm considering buying a Dell 2713 monitor to go with my new 27" Imac. What cable do I need to get to connect them? Is there a Thunderbolt->DVI cable?

To clarify, this would be the new 27" iMac that has _just_ been released, and the Dell 2713 is 2560x1440 - same as the iMac.

1) Does the mini display port plug directly into the thunderbolt port on the back of the iMac?

2) Does it support such a high resolution display?

Yes and Yes.

The Thunderbolt port is the displayport (or rather apple will say it's compatible etc etc)

I've had better experience with going Mini DP to DP for monitors that support it, like the high end Dell, HP and Asus, instead of Mini DP to DVI.
