Hey guys,
so right now I'm a bit frustrated as my Mac won't let me update to 10.11.1.
When I click "restart" after the installation claims to be done (updating from the downloaded dmg packed installer, as the Mac App Store update doesn't work as well) the Mac IMMEDIATELY shuts off, without any logging out and such.
After the reboot ALL MY REARRANGING of icons in Launchpad, I've finally bothered to deal with the horrible means of organizing the mess it is by default making it an actually nice launcher for some less used tools where I'd never quite remember the name correctly for Spotlight that aren't really worthy of further clogging up my already filled to the brim Dock.
Any thoughts? Apparently a screwed up update of SYSTEM FILES will reset high-level USER SETTINGS when the Mac booted to a gray loading bar, rebooting again and loading up the actual OS.
Very interesting behavior... And by interesting I mean ridiculous.
I'm sorry, I'm super frustrated, because it took me quite a while and I've seen user settings reset before for something else and I just never know these days when to trust Apple software to a reasonable degree, even though the installer failing might be a reason in itself not under Apple's control. (not quite the point though, as the update will eventually work, not too bothered about that right now)
