Hey guys, every once in awhile this happens and I cannot explain it.
Running Mavericks 10.9.3 (issue has occurred since original Mavericks).
Intel i7 2.9ghz
750gb hdd
8gb ram
13 inch MBP 2012

So, every once in awhile when I turn my computer of the grey apple screen takes forever to go away (you see the circle loader just keep spinning). This normally goes away within seconds, when this lag happens it stays for almost a minute.

Next, when I login...usually I see my desktop right away. When this lag occurs, the login screen freezes for a few seconds (about 15) then I see my desktop. Now, the dock usually loads right away...when this happens, I have no dock for awhile. Sometimes the desktop images do not show either. This can last about a minute.

Once all of it shows, usually you can click say Safari and it loads right now. Nope, not when this happens. When it happens, safari keeps bouncing up and down. Sometimes it stops bouncing and safari still does not open for 30 seconds to a minute.

Now, typically when it lags like this I see spotlight is indexing. Now, when it is really bad it does not signal to me it is indexing. Usually when you click spotlight, it will say it is indexing. When the lag is really bad, it does not say this.

Now, when it is bad such as it was today, I opened up activity monitor. I noticed both mds, and mds_stores were taking a huge chunk of CPU. This last about 5 minutes. Until they died down, the computer was massively unresponsive.

I opened finder and it took awhile for the files to show. Using open with -> half the icons failed to load (in fact, it took almost 10 seconds for the open with options to even pop up).

After the computer is settled (about 5 minutes pass) everything works fine. It is not *that* big of a deal, but when usually it fires up in 30 seconds and I am good to go...it is a pain when it takes 5 minutes when you REALLY need something quick.

Any ideas or suggestions?
Checking console nothing stuck out to me except this:

Thanks.
