I know these forums will list new threads at the top but what causes older threads to jump back up to the top of the forum pages? Just curious....

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

Everytime someone replies to a post it jumps to the number one post.

If someone posts in a thread 5 years old it will appear back to top of the list until someone posts in another to jump above again.

A search and a response will jump it to the top. I think they check the date after they respond. :(

I think you mean why do you see old threads near the top but no new post. If so, it's likely a spammer posted in an old thread and the post was deleted by a mod. It still retains it's place at the top of the search results.

9 times out of ten either a spammer bumps a thread, troll or a newbie trying to look good. a newbie bumped a 3 year old thread the other day asking about the original iphone he answered the question like it was just posted. funny how some newbies can't search at all yet others a gifted with the ability to find old dead threads.
