What city is this? (pics)

Hi all,

Last year I went on vacation to Aruba, and snapped some cool pictures of islands on the way there. I've been able to identify most islands I took pictures of, put I can't seem to place the following city. I can tell you this much about where I think we went over:

1. Flight was from Charlotte, NC to Aruba
2. We definitely passed New Providence Island, Bahamas, flying south.
3. We passed mountains on the way in, so I believe it's in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, possibly Cuba, possibly Jamaica, or possibly Puerto Rico.
4. There seems to be a lot of urbanized area.
5. All pictures were taken in a time span of 10-15 minutes.

Ok, here are some of the pictures, in order of when they were taken:

#1- Mountainous, with what seems to be a river right in front of the engine.

#2- This is the main picture I've been trying to compare to sat. pictures. Little mountain/hill on the left, bay on the bottom, and some land jutting out to the water.

#3-Close-up on the city.

#4- City again, with a small lake in the upper left.

#5- This picture puzzles me. I think it's the same city, but there's water at the top of the picture now. Also, there seems to be a small island at the very top of the picture, which should help identifying it on sat. pictures.

#6- More city

#7- Last one. This was taken about 3-5 minutes after taking the city pictures. As you can see, the land flattens out, big time. Leads me to believe that it might be in the Dominican Republic.

After seeing these pictures again, it may be that the pictures above show two neighboring cities instead of one. If that's the case, then they're quite close together.

That looks like Honduras.
I know that's not a city, and maybe I"m far off, but I swear to you, it's Honduras!
Or is Aruba north of Honduras? I'm not so sure. But I flew to Honduras last year, and the pictures I took, I swear to you, look just like that!

Haha, Honduras is very far off from the probable flight path...it's way to the east.

Is the last picture the same as the bay at the bottom of the linked map?

port au prince (Haiti), but the peninsula in the last picture is in dominican republic

the larger of the two lakes (the one larger cross-shaped -fig 5-) is Etang Saumatre, the smaller roundish one (fig 4) is next to it is closer the city of port-au-prince (which goes to the west, or to the bottom in your pictures)

the peninsula in fig 6 is Cabo Falso, in the Jaragua National Park, corresponding to the small brownish westward peninsula in the map linked in the post above

in the pics you are looking towards east and travelling south

i am still dubious about the city in fig 2,
it doesn't look like Port-Au-Prince, especially with that rocky outcrop in the middle.

are you sure it was shot just before the other pictures?

#1, 2 and 3 were taken in seconds of each other, #4, 5, and 6 were taken 7 minutes later. As I said at the bottom of my original post, it seems like they are neighboring cities....so, any idea of what the first city is? I'll do a bit more searching on Google Maps, paying close attention to Haiti.

ok, this makes more sense.

the city in the first picture is GONAIVES in Northern Haiti (about 60 miles north of port au prince)
